Here is an excerpt from my upcoming book Uncluttered on vision:
One of the best movies I have recently had the chance to see was the 2012 version of Les Misérables which won three Golden Globe Awards and three Oscars in 2013. Most notably of the Oscars was the one that actress Ann Hathaway won for supporting actress in the role of Fantine. The character Fantine in the story that pregnant and has a baby girl out of wedlock. Due to tragic circumstances of the era she turns to prostitution in the back alleys of Paris to support herself and her now young daughter Cosette. At one of the low points in the musical for Fantine, she sings the song titled, “I Had A Dream.” Read the lyrics of the first and last stanza below and contemplate if this is what has happened to you as you have sought to live out God’s vision.
“I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed a dream that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgivingI had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I’m living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.”If you are not dreaming, if you don’t have a goal for life and if you do not have a vision, you are dying. Because you’re either growing or you’re dying. I believe when an ordinary person is committed to a great vision, it makes that person a great person. Remember, vision must be accompanied by a plan; otherwise that vision will run you ragged. If you want to be healthy, you must have a dream to live for.
