Acts 17:1-6 ESV Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there l, a synagogue of the Jews. And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women. But the Jews were jealous, and taking some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd. And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.”
What Will It Take To Turn The World Upside Down
Live Like Jesus Lived
“Come follow me” is an incredible command.
Many people have rejected the church because of those who claim to be followers of Christ. Until we move beyond superficial faith, we will not experience supernatural living.
Philippians 2:5-8 is the epitome of how Jesus lived, Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Love Like Jesus Loved
Living like Jesus is one thing, loving like Jesus is another.
John 15:12-14, My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.
Many of believe love is something we fell. Jesus taught us that it is a commitment we must have toward all people.
Leave Behind What Jesus Left Behind
He left people who lived like him and loved like him.
Matthew 28:19-20
We cannot be satisfied to make disciples, but we must be committed to multiplying disciples. This is how we will change the world.
We are not about addition, but about multiplication:
Multiplying ourselves
Multiplying our small groups
Multiplying Bridge Church
Jesus left behind a movement, not a machine, not an organization, but a movement of his Father.
If God has blessed Bridge Church like he has our first six months, what will he do in the next six months and even the next six years? The Bible tells us “to whom much has been given, much is required.”
Two weeks ago I spoke on Change Your Life. I talked about a word, repent which means to radically change your life – to turn your world upside down. Some of you have been thinking about Christianity for weeks, months and even possibly years. This morning God is wanting to turn your world upside down.
Time to stop investigating and time to act.
