When You Start Something, You're Asking For A Battle

Every time you start building for God, you're asking for a battle. If you start trying to build your marriage, you're asking for a battle. If you start trying to build up your own personal spiritual life you're asking for a battle. If you start trying to build a church, that's a battle. Everytime a church starts, there is a battle. Why? Because Satan doesn't want churches started. He gets people to oppose you.

Let's look at the historical story of a guy named Nehemiah. He was being opposed for trying to rebuild the walls of ancient Jerusalem. While he was trying to build, he was having to fight at the same time. Builders must build and battle at the same time. If you start doing anything of significance in this world, somebody is going to oppose you. What do you do?

You have three alternatives, the same one's Nehemiah had. When people start opposing you with rumors, resistance and ridicule you have to make a choice;

a. You can give up
b. You can stop what you are doing and go fight -- do a preemptive strike
c. You do what you are doing, but arm yourself defensively.

People who are doers must build and battle at the same time. You never leave the wall to fight the enemy. You could spend all your time putting out fires and never get your job done

This principle is found in Nehemiah 4:13 "I stationed some of the people at the lowest points of the wall posting them by families." Why by families? When you are under attack, more than any other time, you need support. When you're being opposed there are always two oppositions. They want to hinder your work and they want to stop your work. When you know that the opposition's goal is to get you to quit what do you do? Don't quit! You keep on working no matter what!

You keep working to carry out God's vision for your life. You keep starting new things. You keep writing. You keep on doing whatever it is you are called to do!
