Sorry for the lack of posts the past two days.  I have been suffering from a new disease I made up, Post Snow Depression Syndrome. Yeah, right!  Truthfully, I am getting sick of snow. We have 1-2 foot drifts in our yard in certain places.  Enough of that.

Is it narrow minded to think that Jesus is the only way to heaven?  The most outrageous thing Jesus ever said, the most politically incorrect words ever to come from his lips are found in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father but by Me.” 

But how do we know that Jesus was telling the truth?  Anybody could say this.  how do we know that Jesus was telling the truth?  The reality is this: Only Jesus backed up His claims with unique credentials that gave Him unique credibility.  Lots of credentials.  I’ll mention quickly just four of them:

1.    First, Jesus validates His claim to being the one and only Son of God because Jesus Christ is the only individual in the history of the world to fulfill dozens of ancient prophecies that were written hundreds of years before He was even born on this earth in Bethlehem.

·            Isaiah 7:14               Virgin birth

·            Micah 5:2                 Birth in Bethlehem

·            Psalm 22                  The crucifixion

·            Isaiah 53                   His death – the tomb

2.  He validates His claim by His unprecedented character

      

3.  He validated His claim by performing miracles.  Jesus challenged them. he said in John 10:37, “Don’t you even believe me unless I do miracles of God.”  in other words, anyone can claim to be the Son of God but unless I do miracles supernaturally to show you, don’t even believe Me.  and He did perform miraculous things.  

4. The most spectacular demonstration of His deity: Jesus Christ fulfilled His own prediction and three days after He was put to  death he was resurrected from the dead.  And He was encountered by more than 500 eyewitnesses.  Who else but the Son of God could spend three days in a tomb and then come forward and establish that He had returned to life.

Christianity is not just a philosophy.  It is a reality.  Jesus didn’t just claim that He’s

the one and only way to God.  he validated His credentials and fully established His

credibility.
