Freedom. What a word!
It means we have the power to make our own decisions that effect our lives. Here in the United States, we have never known it any other way. Our parents, grand parents, great grandparents and their fathers and mothers knew what it was like to be free to decide where to go, what to do and how to live.
This Sunday the people of Iraq for the first time ever, will be free to choose the leader of their country. Regardless of your political viewpoint regarding the U.S. involvement in Iraq, we should applaud the freedom that has been offered to citizens of that country. It has been ravaged by a maniacal oppressor, war over the past two decades, and terroisim against it’s people. I heard on the news this morning that officials are predicting a larger percentage turn out in the Iraqi election than what took place here in the U.S. election in November.
When people want freedom, they will pay any price for it, even their lives. We can see that in the history of our forefathers here in America.
Keep our soldiers in your prayers this weekend as they will be providing security during the election. Pray for the Iraqi people. Let Freedom ring!
