My friend Ed Stetzer invited me to an International Mission Board forum of 40 emerging leaders in the SBC to engage in conversation around social justice, missions and empowering the next generation of global leaders. It was good to see Ed and another one of my long distance friends at this forum, Rick Warren. He never gets my last name right.

1. Never Stop Growing Personally
You can never delegate faith and God
You must make disciples and leaders in order to grow

Three of the most important things in your life: Your Integrity, Humility and Generosity.

2. Pay attention to your family
Love your wife and love your kids
You must take a day off – call it a sabbath, not a day off
Don’t read email and don’t answer the phone
Build your family before you build your church
Criticism and complaints are like bubble gum – chew on them, but do not swallow.
Jesus was criticized by religious leaders and that is who you will be criticized by.

3. You must develop a kingdom mind-set
Jesus’ agenda is the kingdom of God.
The kingdom of God – wherever Jesus is King

4. Focus on building people, not the church
You need to focus on building people and let God build the church
