I believe that I am capable of leaving a legacy.

Sometimes the word ‘legacy” is packed with all kinds of expectation.  I’ve got to have fame or fortune, or I’ve got to do something powerful or special.  But I don’t want you to think about fame.  I want you to think about fruitfulness.  It’s not about fame.  It’s about fruitfulness.  Your name may never be in print.  Your name may never be on a marquee.  But if you live a fruitful life it will be shouted from the mountaintops in heaven and it will make a difference today.

Let’s be honest. You and I have been around life long enough to know that names come and go. Name recognition is here today and gone tomorrow. If you go home and type into Google “His name will live forever,” you will get a list of hundreds of people that you’ve never heard of. That’s the irony. “His name will live forever,” and I don’t even recognize some of these names. I wrote a couple in my notes:

What type of legacy will I leave?

Name Legacy

There are people who are trying to make a name for themselves. They want to leave a name legacy. They’re trying to do things to be remembered for the good that they have done. There are people that have passed before us that have done great things and we remember their name and name recognition is easy.

Not every name is going to leave a positive legacy. Judas, Hitler.

Go after a legacy of service.

That’s what I want you to go after – a legacy of service. Do something that is bigger than yourself. Do something where you’re investing or in things that really matter. Please don’t go to your grave without the thrill of tasting service. Of doing something that is so inspiring to yourself that you can’t wait to serve

I’d encourage you to cast your legacy vision.. Really think about your life. I want to encourage you to do that – to cast your legacy vision.

Commit to a legacy of faith.

What I mean by a legacy of faith is you having a small part of the transformation of somebody else’s life. I can’t imagine anything more radical than that. That you might be able to introduce a friend to your heavenly Father. That is a legacy that will last all into eternity. I want to encourage you to have that on your radar. That’s a legacy of faith.
