Well, actually Dave Ramsey is not “the man”, Jesus Christ is, but I wanted to get your attention. About five months ago, I finally took the time to tune in to a local radio station to a guy who is becoming wildly popular around the country and hated by the credit card companies. That guy is none other than Dave Ramsey himself, the author of the “Total Money Makeover”, that is sweeping across America.

I am not going to take time to share Dave’s story, you can find that at his website, www.daveramsey.com. Since I found Dave on WHK 1220AM, I have become an avid listener, but more important, Julie and I have began to apply the principles he teaches. We have paid off around $12,000 in consumer debt and am now working on getting rid of our car payment and watch out Sky Bank, because the house is next.

I wish someone would have taught us this stuff twenty five years ago, because I would be a multi-millionaire by now instead of making banks and credit card companies rich. What Dave teaches is so practical and easy, yet some people have a hard time believing that you can be totally debt free and building wealth.

It was a pleasure to attend Dave’s Total Money Makeover seminar this past Saturday with twenty four other folks from our church. It was neat to see the light come on for several of these people who are excited about the possibilities. I am doing pre-marital counseling with a young couple who has their sights set on being debt free and being multi-millionaires before they hit forty five.

As I started out saying, Dave is not the man! The man who has the cattle on a thousand hills, Jesus Christ, wants you not to be a slave to the lender, but to be a servant of the Master. Satan wants to kill the joy that Jesus places in our hearts by keeping us burdened with the worries, cares, debt, and desire for riches. Jesus wants to set us free to serve Him and experience the peace that passes all understanding.

Thanks goes out to Jesus for all that he has done and is doing. Thanks also to Dave for sharing!

By the way, it doesn’t hurt that Dave is a native Tennessean like myself (Knoxville) and he graduated from UT, he can’t be all that bad!
