Here are some quick tidbits from the ministry panel.

Bil Corneilus who is the Lead Pastor and founder of Bayside Church led off the panel.  Patrick and I had a chance to hang out with Bil in Saddleback's green room and asked questions and shared what we are doing. Fifty percent of Bil's congregation is Hispanic. Bil said to throw people in ministry first and then they will join the church. They want to be committed to a movement, not membership. Give people a job and that will get them involved. Take risks on people. The number recruiter for ministry is the pastor.
By the way, you and your ministry team need to read Go Big, written by Bil and Bill Easum.

Jonathan Falwell shared that if we wait for people to serve they never will!

Joel Hunter said one of the most impactful statements I heard this week, "Our job is to love people who will never come through our door. We are to love people who will never come through any church door."

Part of the lack of volunteers is our problem, we don't share the vision about the joy of serving. We need to get rid of a checklist for ministry and create a culture of ministry.
