Money really does speak, even in the SBC. It seems that the pastor whose church gives the most (percentage wise) to the cooperative program has the best shot at getting elected President of this great denomination. Yesterday, Frank Page was elected President for a term of one year and it ws primarily due to the fact that his church in South Carolina gives 12.4% to the Coop Program. It says so at the Baptist Press website, so it must be true!

Honestly, all sarcasim aside, when the men making the nominations for the three respective candidates gave their presentations, it was clear that Frank Page was going to win this one. When the gentleman who nominated Frank gave his presentation, he mentioned and emphasized that Page’s church gave over 12% to the Coop Program, the applause broke out. His qualifications and heart for the SBC was well presented, but it was the Coop Program remark, bloggers, and the 12% that got Frank Page the votes he needed to win over Ronnie Floyd and Jerry Sutton.

I wish someone would have nominated Ed Stetzer!
