Disasters have a way of clarifying values. They have a way of pointing out what matters and what really doesn’t matter. They define your values, notice this verse: “Jesus said…”For one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Lk 12:15 (ESV) Don’t confuse what you’re living on with what you’re living for. A man’s life does not consist of what he possesses.

Look at this verse, 1 Tim 6:7 “We brought nothing into this world, and we can’t take nothing out of it.” You’re never going to see a hearse with a U-Haul behind it. Here is the point, if you want real security, you must build your life on something that can never be taken from you.

Can you lose a home? Yes. Can you lose a career? Yes. Can you lose a marriage? Yes. Can you lose your health? Yes. Can you lose your youthful beauty? Yes. Can you lose your relationship with God? No.

When you’re dealt a hand you didn’t deserve, accept that life is unfair.

You just need to accept it; it is a fact of life. Quit trying to ignore it, it is a fact. John 16:33, Jesus said, “In the world you will have trouble.” Jesus was realistic about life. In the world you’re going to have trouble. The fact is, even if you spent every single waking moment of your life crusading against injustice and correcting wrongs in our society, you’re not going to save society. The issue is deeper than the system. The problem is human nature.

So He says it’s human nature that’s the real problem, so even if everybody became a believer and started living the way God wants us too, the next generation comes along and they have to make their own decisions. You’re just not going to change society permanently. Life is unfair.
